1. Introduction

TowLoadCheck ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you voluntarily provide when using TowLoadCheck, including:

We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or location unless you voluntarily provide it.

This section describes the TowLoadCheck app. For what is collected when you browse towloadcheck.com, see section 7.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information you provide is used to:

4. Data Storage and Security

Your vehicle and towing data is stored locally on your device by default. We do not transmit this data to our servers or share it with third parties. You have full control over your data and can delete it at any time through the application settings.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect any data you choose to back up or sync with cloud services.

5. Where Your Numbers Come From

Every rating TowLoadCheck uses is one you enter yourself, taken from your vehicle's door label, your owner's manual or tow guide, and your trailer's label. TowLoadCheck does not look your vehicle up in any external database and does not download specifications from us or from any third party. All calculations run on your device against the figures you supplied.

6. Third-Party Services

The TowLoadCheck app does not integrate with third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or social media platforms. We do not share your vehicle or towing data with any third parties.

This website makes one outbound request on your behalf. It asks Apple's public App Store lookup service what TowLoadCheck costs on your local storefront, so that the price shown to you is the one you would actually be charged. That request tells Apple your IP address and which storefront was asked about. It carries nothing you have entered into the app or the site, and it sets no cookie and no identifier. Apple's handling of that request is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

The website also uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, both described in full in section 7.

7. Website Analytics and Cookies

This section is about towloadcheck.com only. The TowLoadCheck app itself contains no analytics of any kind, as described in section 6.

We use Google Analytics 4 on this website to understand which pages people read, which links they follow, and roughly where in the world visitors come from. We use it to decide what to write next and whether the App Store link is easy enough to find. We do not use it for advertising, remarketing or audience building. The advertising features of Google Analytics are switched off for every visitor, in every country, with no exception.

We also use Microsoft Clarity, which records an anonymised replay of how a page was used — where a pointer moved, what was clicked, how far down the page someone read — and gathers those into heatmaps. It answers the questions that visitor counts cannot, such as whether people are missing a section or giving up part way through an explanation. Clarity masks text by default, and this site has no forms, no sign-in and no fields of any kind, so there is nothing you could have typed for it to record.

What Google Analytics receives: the pages you view and the order you view them in, the link or search that brought you to the site, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, and your device type, browser and screen size. Google discards your full IP address rather than storing it. Nothing you have typed into the app, and nothing you have written to us for support, is ever sent to Google.

The cookies: where analytics storage is permitted, Google Analytics writes one first-party cookie and Microsoft Clarity writes two, so that a returning visit can be told apart from a new one. All three can be read only by towloadcheck.com and hold randomly generated numbers rather than anything that identifies you. The Google Analytics cookie expires after six months; Clarity's two expire after a year and after a day.

Your choices:

Where the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies, our legal basis for this processing is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by the means above; withdrawing it does not affect anything done before you did. Google and Microsoft each act as our processor for their own tool, and their handling of the data is governed by Google's own privacy policy and by the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then deleted. Clarity keeps session recordings for 30 days and aggregated figures for 13 months.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the date of this policy.
